Can You Use CDX Plywood As Flooring?

Can You Use CDX Plywood As Flooring?

Creating "Do-It-Yourself" CDX Flooring are created by Layers of CDX Plywood which are glued together, with adjacent plies having their wood grain at right angles to each other, to form a composite material. The alternation of the grain is called cross-graining, and has several important benefits:

You can pick up at your local hardware for around $10 per sheet and then when layed you cut it place it into the floor and then stain it. It is a very cost effective way of doing or redoing any room in your house and you can put those extra savings back in your bank account.

CDX Plywood Vaneers reduce the tendency of wood to split when nailed at the edges. This is a benefit for many do it yourself jobs, especially when you consider that most "do-it-yourself'ers" are novices in jobs for the first time. Installing Wood Veneers for Laminate or Vinyl Flooring .

When you install CDX plywood vaneers, it is to begin with the project from the corner of the room, and then work your way out with the CDX plywood. You will be moving in a single direction, or in a similar way that any subfloor materials have been laid. You should make a space in the area of 1/16th of an inch from the walls and the plywood panels. Then use nails, or screws to insert 1/4 inch staples at a 1/2 foot apart across the top of the CDX plywood veneers. And then, insert a few more every couple of centimeters apart along the edge of the project. Install more CDX panels in a similar way, and then leave about 1/16 inch of a gap between the boards.
