CDX Plywood Comparision to Other Types Of Plywood

When looking for different types of plywood, there are some hardwood and plywood varieties to seek for. It especially depends on what types of plywood hardwood that you are talking about, and many products of plywood which include plywood. When it comes down to plywood there are different grades and uses of woods depending on the specific application you may be working with or constructing.
Here is a rundown of some different names of wood that you might find useful when working on projects around the home or big renovations in the future.

CDX Plywood

CDX is a low or average grade exterior plywood material: The letters C and D represent the grade quality of the wood on both the front and back sides, and the X represents that it is an exterior grade wood suitable for outdoor purposes and resistant to water damage as the glues invloved in making the plywood will not be adversly impacted my exposure to water.

Mahogany Wood - Products:
Mahogany Wood is different from many kinds of tropical hardwood. These types of hardwood are colours of reddish-brown and is widely used in furniture-making, boat building, and other high specification uses. It is also used in the wood paneling for plywood.


Luan Wood- can be described as a tropical type of Plywood from the South American and Asian Regions. It actually began manufacturing over 40 years ago in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. In general, in the Home Renovation and Construction Industry, Plywood is classified as Luan Plywood. It came from a select few tropical countries such as Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Luan species of wood, that is most commonly used, is from the Philippines and the traditional name is also the same, but is spelled, Lauan, however it is commonly called Luan Plywood. It can also go by the name Meranti, or else Philippine Mahogany. (Also Tropical by Nature)
Ash Plywood:
Ash Plywood is used for applications, where a very strong & resilient, decorative Plywood is required. Ash throughout Plywood is a high-quality panel's product, and is regularly used for toy, model making & interior decoration. The product is also used in the manufacturing of a variety of sports equipment. This product is produced using a uniform 2.5mm thickness rotary, which peeled ash veneers throughout.



Birch Wood - Products:
Birch is a multi-ply Plywood product, known for its strength and edge quality. It is used for drawer sides, toys, children's furniture, seat bottoms & backs. As well, jigs and fixture boards are used. You can use it for anything, and it can give you better strength for the exposed edge type of applications. This material is a highly rated interior building use.
